why wont it work?
ive installed a game on 2 other computers. both were dell and they worked fine...but they were slow. well now on my really fast vaio it wont work at all. it will show the startup like its gonna start then it shuts down and says windows has encountered a problem and needs to close. well i checked the event logger to see more detailed information on the error and it said that there was a bad block of memory. what does this mean? y did this happen? can i fix it? (the game is Age of Empires 3)

Get Memtest86+ or DocMemory and test the RAM.

It probably means one of your memory modules has gone bad, which is not uncommon. There are tests which you can run that can confirm if this is the problem. If your computer is still under warranty, get Sony to replace the module. If not, then you can go to Crucial.com where you can determine what type of memory will run in your computer. I do not know specifically which memory tests will work for your computer but I bet there are others at PC Mech who have an answer.
Edit:...there ya go! Cricket knows.

Memtest86+
DocMemory Go to either site and read about them. They're both downloadable utilities that run from a bootable floppy disk. Cricket

Do you have a computer around that has a floppy drive? Or even one you could borrow from someone?

You could take it out of that computer and temporarily install it in the one you want to test. You don't even have to put it in a bay, just set it on the ground with the case open.

You gotta go into the BIOS and enable the floppy drive.
