Call of Duty Lag?

Hey guys,

Not quite sure when this started but i've been getting rediculous amounts of lag when playing call of duty (normally runs lag-less), it seems to be happening both in the online and single player mode's it's so bad now that by the time i actually see someone im already killed off.

Any suggestions as to what could be the cause, so far i've re-installed it with no luck also i'm not running any resource hungry applications that i know of or Seti/F&H or similar when playing and my system is defragged/cleaned up regularly. The only changes i've made recently was to swap my USB DSL modem for a ethernet DSL router as the modem was repeatedly losing connection, getting 256k upstream 1700ish downstream and pings to server I frequent are around 30, its definately not a problem with that server either as i get it everywhere i play.

Any ideas?

Check to see if Anti-aliasing and/or anisotrophic filtering got bumped up. You probably had those settings cranked down. If you go into Display properties (right click desktop -> properties) and into the Settings Tab, Advanced button, and then you probably have a "3D" tab or something like that in there. Check to see what AA and AF are set to in both DirectX and OpenGL.

Also, double check those settings in-game.

First off this is Call of Duty 2 correct? Are you running it in direct X9? If so with that video card you have to back it down to direct X7 and put all the textures onto medium. Turn of soften smoke edges. I have a 9600Xt in the computer I am using right now and thats all I can do. I can run direct x9 but, the lag is unbelievable.
