Question Timedemos for benchmarking.

Hi, Can anyone tell me how to run a timedemo in Unreal Tournament "game of the Year" edition? How about Halflife Game of the Year edition? I just built a new system and really want to test its gaming performance compared to my older builds and also magazine reviews. And I do not feel like spending $30 on Quake III Arena just for testing. I have searched and downloaded and just can not make it work in Unreal Tournament. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, what benchmarks are you guys using for gaming performance?

Paul

You can use the fly-by intro as a timedemo.

When the fly-by starts, open up the console with the ~ key, and type 'timedemo 1'.

It'll give you last sec and average frames per second readings. If you don't tell the game to do anything else, the intro will loop forever.

Thank You, that is exactly what I was looking for. Now back to the tests to see how my T-bird 1 ghz/Radeon DDR combo compares to my overclocked Celerons and PIII. Paul

Hi,
I don't know if that what i'm going to place here is actually what you are looking for but it is a real good Bemchmark - it's called 3DMark 2001 and you can download it for free at http://www.madonion.com it will stress your computer to the edge and will give you a full test of CPU VGA and so on.. Check it out
