Final Fantasy 7 for PC.

I was cleaning out some of my old stuff and came across my original CD's that I have bought many years ago and one of them happen to be FF7 in mint condition. Well I decided to play this game on my PC but it keeps crashing. I have done some research on this problem and it seems that FF7 does not get along well with Windows XP. Do any of you guys know of any patch that will fix this constant crashing? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Now for the details. On a good day it won't crash for 2+ hours but most of the time it seems like it crashes every 45 minutes or so. Now the only error screen I get is the one where XP asks you if you want to send the error report or not. Here are the current system specs of the computer I use to play FF7, it's not the same comp in my sig:

CPU- Pentium4 2.4C
RAM- Kingston PC3200 2x 512MB in Dual Channel
Video Card- ATI Radeon 9800pro 128MB
Mobo- Intel D865PERL
Sound- On board sound
HDD- 80GB SATA WesternDigital
OS- Windows XP Pro w/SP2
