Why am i locking up while gaming?

Well we all know bf2 has a tendency to occasionally crash to desktop.

Well i just overclocked my 7800 to 485/1110 and after 45minutes of game play it locked up and crashed to desktop. GPU was only reading 54* though which is well below concern. So i shrug it off as bf2 glitch but about 45mins later i get teh same result. Why would i be locking up if the card isnt anywhere near overheating and isnt showing signs of artifacting AT ALL?

I think you may have answered your own question. Overclocking is a risky proposition. Was it crashing at all w/o the OC? Maybe back your OC down a bit?

My money is on Kov-Ice's suggestion, however you may want to also check the supported forceware driver for that paticular game. It's not always the latest from Nvidia.
