video problem

unable to initialize the rendered to a valid video model,

this comes up when i try to run the game what does this mean. i just installed an ATI X700 pro on a gateway 835GM. is there something that im doing wrong?

What game?
Did you check for patches? You may need them for the new card.
Also with a new card you may need to back up your save games and reinstall the game to get everything working.
About the card; did you wipe the old drivers and install new ones when you swapped it in?

well the game in trying to run is fear. ad the videocard drivers on the stock video i coud not find them. so i just unistalled the video card from the device manager. and it still dose it. so try new paches with the game? i never thought about that. i will try that. and i just bought the game so i was a fresh install on the new card. i dont know what going on but i will try the patches.

Whoa.
Go here and get the latest ATI drivers : https://support.ati.com/ics/support/...e&folderID=293
Do not forget to install .NET, you need the CCC ( Catalyst Control Center) and it won't function without .NET, which sounds like your problem.
Make sure DX 9 is installed.
Remember that .NET uses the TCP stack so when your firewall ask you what it's doing just tell it yes, it's not accessing the net but it uses some of the same pathways in XP.
Check and see if there are any recent chipset updates for that Gateway, install them.
When that's all set up, then go to the games site and get the patch(es).
