Steam gamees online: Do I have to download all that stuff from servers?
Is there a way to bypass all those sounds and sprays and pictures and decals that sometimes servers make you download from them. I mean I can't just pop into a decent game without spending at least 1.5 minutes downloading junk I don't want to hear or see anyway.

I dont believe there is but i may be very wrong...sorry if I am. I look at it this way, find a server you really enjoy and if they have the sprays, mods, macros, etc. then DL them and just keep playing that server. It aggrivates me aswell but i kinda just stick it out. Sorry i couldnt be more help.
