geforce 2 mx400
I'm thinking of getting the Elsa Gladiac 511 geforce2 MX 400 32mb PCI (catchy name), it has to be PCI because there is no AGP slot on this Epox KL-133M mobo due to the fact that there is a rubbish onboard S3 Savage 4 graphics chip.
Anyway my questions are is it possible to disable the Savage 4 graphics on this mobo? Or am I stuck with it? Also, I'd like any opinions on the geforce card, is the PCI version that much slower than the AGP one? At least it can't be worse than this damn Savage 4 crap. Thanks in advance. |

Check in your BIOS setup and see if it has a Onboard Video Disable Option. Get the new card, install it, Start, enter setup, disable onboard, install new drivers. On NVidia based cards I suggest that you go to their site and download the drivers from them, I have had a lot of Problems with the Disks that seem to come from the card manufactures.

Thanks for the help, I've just checked the BIOS and there is an option called Init Display First, where it says in the manual "If two video cards are used (one AGP and one PCI) this specifies which one will be the primary display adapter." So I guess if I set it to PCI it automatically disables AGP is that right?
Will I have to remove all Savage drivers? Sounds like a silly question but because it is part of the motherboard will removing them cause any problems? Anyone with any experience of this mobo? |
