Destroy all Humans

Has anybody played this game? This is the first console game in a long time to actually keep my attention...I played for a good four hours today without even realizing it (spring break, I'm allowed to do that ).

I think it's the humorous personality of the game that keeps you hooked. The main aliens, the humans, everybody in the game either cracks a joke or makes inuendos that just makes you chuckle while playing. I haven't had a game do that in a long time. Also the banter between your character and the alien scientist calling the shots is pretty funny as well. It's wit and creativity, on top of its excellent gameplay gives it its overall appeal. You get to blow everything up, throw people/cars around through telekinesis, evoke hypnosis, and harvest human brains. How much more fun can it get? Oh yeah, you also try to establish communication with cows (by reading its mind) because you intially think they're the highest form of life on the planet...until the farmer comes out of his house with a shotgun. It's hilarious. (BTW, the only thing on the cow's mind was "Mooooo").

Don't go by IGN's score of a 7 on this one, it's definately worth a try.

I haven't played it yet, but I've read some good reviews on it. Most of the reviews said the amount of variety and choices in the game is what kept them hooked the most (e.g. blowing stuff up, throwing cars, hypnosis, etc).

It's definately worth a rent. I don't know about buying it though since it looks like I'm going to end up beating it before I take it back (esp. since blockbuster no longer has late fees ).

The variety will keep you hooked, but I think it's also the uniqueness of the game that'll make you keep playing. There're not many games out with this specific plot. Think of a simplified version of GTA (only in that you can't do anything with the cars besides pick them up, set them down, move them, and throw them). Besides that people walk around just like in GTA and react to you. Also if somebody gets hit by a car the police will go and investigate it. You can hypnotize people to make distractions. If you kill somebody or do something violent exclamation points will appear above their heads (if they saw it) and will come and look. Also, if they're just walkig by and happen to see it they'll run away frightened. If you get seen then an alert bar with symbols increases (just like GTA) and more important opponets get sent in ~ general public concern, police, military, men in black (majestic). You can also take the appearance of any person you look at, allowing you to walk in public and not raise concern.

All in all it's pretty fun. The voice overs might get repetitive after a couple of hours, but they're still funny.
