Virtual drives

I am new to this- I have been trying software to emulate games on virtual drives. I have tried Farstone's Game Drive and Alcohol 120%. I copy the games to the hard drive, then mount the image in the virtual drive. When I try to access the game in the virtual drive, it starts on the installation page and not the start of the game. What am I doing wrong?

well both those programs are actually a tad complicated, daemon tools is probably a better way to go. most new games (anything that came out in the past few months) detects virtual drives (piracy etc) so perhaps theres an error. ideally your trying to make a small image file, prehaps and mdf file or a bwa file... if u take a full iso... waste of hdd space... but really, thats really strange. maybe you shouldnt start from the virtual drive but the shortcut via from the prog and start from there...
