I'm assuming you mean running the games in Win2k as opposed to Win98/ME or such. Win2k apparently doesn't perform as well as Win98 does, but from my own personal experience the difference isn't that great. You might lose about a few FPS, but i'm sure the games will still run fine.

Cool

K thanx for the info Hackin.I was just wonderin because I know NT isnt xactly
the environment of choice for problem free game running and Win 2000 is just the new version of NT.Did the mighty MS design 2000 to be more compatible with
gaming and what about the hardware abstaction layer?Thanx...

With the new service pack updates you shouldn't have any incompatiblity problems. Unless you have some really strange hardware/software.

Yes, MS made Win2K compatible with (nearly) all games by implanting DirectX, and DirectX is the most important things for games. Unless there are some special "hardware-related" procedures in the game it should run without problems in Win2K (I know of a game that did so for CD check. The programmers took it out to provide 100% functionality with Win2K).
But be careful when updating DirectX. There are two different DirectX, one for Win9x and one for Win2K. So if you want to upgrade to the newest DirectX, which is 8 at the moment, then be sure that you get DirectX 8 for Win2K and not for Win9x.

The hardware abstraction layer (HAL) is part of DirectX. It's the interface between the game and the hardware. Whenever it's possible DirectX uses the HAL, uses the features of the hardware (either graphics card or sound card or anythings else).
