Battlefield 2142!

It didn't take them too long to come out with another game in the battlefield series.

this makes me mad... all EA is focused on is making money, which i can understand, but they need to improve the quality. I love battlefield 2, but recently they are throwing a whole bunch of stuff at us that is worthless, Ie Euro Forces...

Looks alright, but I can only play so many Battle Field style games.

Yeah, it will definatly be interesting to see how it plays out.

It looks as if they didnt even modifiy the BF2 game engine - like they just put different skins on all the soldiers and vehicles...BUT I've always been one for not bashing things before they come out, I'll let the game speak for itself.

Interesting...I've always loved the BF series, so this'll be on my wish list most likely.

Considering that Battlefield 2 was a resource hog (or simply, not well coded), I wonder what type of sys requirements 2142 would have.

looks good... but if its exactly the same as BF2, why go BF2142 when you have BF2.

BF2 is good enough for me. thanks EA, but I don't have another 60 bucks.

Hopefully they do fix that.

If you don't want to spend $50-$60 on it, wait till the price drops.

speaking of Battlefield, did anybody purchase the Euro Force "booster pack"?

It was released March 15th and I've looked everywhere for it. I went to EA's site and saw that you can download it for $10.

Is the pack only available for download? It will be more reassuring if I could get a copy on a CD.

It seems a bit early for EA to release a completely new Battlefield game. It would be a better idea to just release it as another expansion pack, since the graphics engine looks about the same.

It has only been about a year since BF2 came out, EA should wait at least another year for BF2142. They could use the time to fix a few bugs, loading times, make gameplay more enjoyable.

Hopefully BF2142 will not include the whole commander thing...

Not even, 9 months is about right.

I think EA and DICE are moving way to fast - sure there may be a market for it, but who wants to buy BF2 again with futuristic skins? Not me - its not worth my $50.

i think its only downloable off the EA Downloader thing. its 10bucks and its about 350mb. so as soon as u dl it id burn it onto a cd...

yea so basicly new weaps (or old, if u play so often that u have all the weaps unlocked, cept a few actually new ones) new maps, one of my favs is the china great wall one... u get so many kills just guarding a flag... lol

Supposedly there's another "booster pack" coming out too. Let's let off the gas here a bit EA/Dice.

I don't plan on getting any of the "booster packs". I was dissapointed by the SF expansion.

I like the Special Forces expansion, but it is over priced. It added some quality maps, and the new attack choppers are awesome. The new weapons, armies, and vehicles keep things fresh.

I might end up buying the euro forces at some point. I'd be more willing to buy BF2142 if it was released as another expansion pack.

this is the sound of EA saying "OMG quakewars is gonna sink these battlefield games, hurry up and release something similar before they do"

I think the requirements will be 1gb ram, 256 megabyte video card in the geforce 7 series, and a 3.4 ghz pentium 4 or equivelent.

Enemy Territory Quake Wars is on the way and looks to be serious competion to BF2. I play BF2 alot but its seriously buggy and unbalanced.

EA/Dice have alot to fix so i'll hold fire and see the feedback on these two games. But i think they are rushing 2142 and it will be have to many issues.

I checked out that game that your mention, Dominion. It looks pretty cool, but it theres no competition when ETQW is released at the same time Crysis is.

Anyway, the BF series is a different genre than Sci-Fi Shooter. I think BF2142 will probably out-sell any FPS released at it's time, just simply because BF is a massive multiplayer FPS, unlike most.

thats the point though its not a single player shooter

Quake Wars is a tactical team game. I read there was no single player mode as they don't want to waste time programming AI. Though its been mentioned you can only have max 24 players in a game compared to BFs 64. However for me 24 is a great number for tactical play where as 64 player is shooting fish in a barrel.

All details are still to be confirmed

The game is supposed to have been coded and finished - right now they are tweaking and balancing. Something unheard of from EA lol.

Hmm. Have you ever played with a team in BF2 that didn't know how to attack a flag? Trust me, there is a lot of tactics to BF2 and it isn't just some run and gun game where you can win being the lone wolf on a flag. Communication with squads and commander is HUGE.

I play on a server called run by www.50klicks.com (check it out) - one of the best out there. Strict rules and very hard because of the quality of players. Baserapers and teamkillers etc are quickly banned unlike alot of other servers.

But even here very little tactics - yeah BF 1942 and DC had tactics. BF2 is more arcade - just attack bases. No one defends - no reason to defend. Having voice with your squad is good though - good for a laugh.

This is another area where quake wars might shine - the idea is to have set objectives to win. Unlike BF2 where you just attack any base you want - choosing to attack the furthest away base is about as tactical as it gets lol.
