Boom Help: No 3d Games!

For some strange reason, whenever I try to run a 3d game, the screen is just black. I can still hear everything, but I can't see anything. That includes the starting menu too. What can I do?

What version of DirectX are you running? What version does this game require? What do you have for a monitor, and what does display properties say the monitor is? Are you using the Best Data driver for the video card, or a generic 3Dfx driver?

Direct X 7 (the games, Final Fantasy 7, Descent 3, and Frogger 2 all have installation programs for the version of direct x they need)
I got the 3dfx driver, because the Bestdata site said 3dfx would have the latest driver.
The Monitor is an Acerveiw 33s.

The monitor IS an Acerview 33S - or that's what Windows thinks it is? You need to use an exact monitor definition file. It's probably going out of sync range and shutting off on you.

As far as I know the monitor is a Acerveiw 33s, the recovery CD we got with it automatically says that it is, and I beleive the retailer did as well.
I noticed though that when I installed the 3dfx driver for the video accelerater that the settings on refresh rate had changed. Normally, it would allow me to lower it to 60hz, but now the minimum is 75hz.
Also, I cannot find any driver updates on the bestdata website.

What resolution are you running in? 75hz at 1024x768 (or above) may be too much for the monitor to handle. Try going down to 800x600 or 640x480 and see if the problem goes away. If it does, that's the problem, if not post back.

I'm running it on 640x480, and the problem is still there.

IT seems that only the more advanced 3d games are not working (Descent 3 and Wipeout XL), but simple ones (Grim Fandango and Virtual Pool) are working fine
