Games question
Hello,
I want to know if some games that don't have listed the Nvidia Geforce or newer video cards on the game requirements will look better on older video cards, like Voodoo 3 for example. I don't play games like Quake or newer games, the most 'intensive' games I play on my PC are the Resident Evil series and Sega GT and most of the games I play are on Sega dreamcast and the PS2. My current setup is: Amd Athlon Thunderbird 850 MS-6167 motherboard SB Live! mp3+ 5.1 IBM 7200 RPM UDMA100 HDD tith promise controller Seagate 7200 RPM UDMA66 HDD Visiontek Geforce 2 GTS video card Creative 8432 CD-RW Samsung SD-612 DVD ROM 256MB micron PC-100 memory Any help appreciated.

Up until last year, in my old P2450 games system, which can still cut it, I had a Riva TNT ultra (I have since upgraded it to Geoforce 256) and 2 x Voodoo 2 SLI.
The reason for having both was two years ago, when 3DFX ruled, everthing was optimised for glide (3DFX) or to a lesser extent Open GL (John Carmack & Co). Nvidia was new and fast but some games looked better and ran better on 3DFX. By having both, if a game didn't look good or work with one I could switch to the other. There was never a game I couldn't play out of the box. And this applies today as well. Initially, Shogun wouldn't work the Geoforce but worked straight away with the Voodoo. I could still play while I resolved the Nvidia driver issues. I still think UT looks better in Glide than Direct 3D. Now, alas, 3DFX are gone and Nvidia rules. However, I think the older games that were optimised for 3DFX will look and work better with a Voodoo. The beauty of having a Geoforce in your AGP slot and a Voodoo in a PCI slot, is you can try both and see which one looks better. |

Just as of this summer are games coming out that a Voodoo3 has trouble with. It should do you fine with any game made prior to Q2 2001.
