Any StarCraft fans in here?

I have been getting the butt kickin' of a lifetime from my 19 year old playing Starcraft over my ethernet network. I havew never been what you might call a hardcore gamer....not even a softcore one! My experience is with really slow stuff like Thief. I really thought Command and Conquer was a pretty cool game until I finally had to give up on it....carpal tunnel, don't ya know. Well not really, but this Starcraft is getting me adicted. We played two consecutive nights starting around 8 or 8:30 each night. We quit the first night at 3:00 am and when he quit the second night at around 2:30, I kept playing single until 6:30 in the morning! Is there a game-a-non 3-step program out there?

My first introduction to computer gaming was the original Warcraft. Then came Warcraft II, which I still played frequently until my main opponent, my Dad, died in May. He still kicked my butt about 90% of the time. We played Starcraft for a while too, but we always seemed to go back to WarII after a while, just because he like it better I think. I still play Starcraft occasionally, but I really have'n gotten back "into" it that much.

Sorry to here you lost your Dad. I have lost both my parents and believe me I know how tough it is. I personally would not present any competition to you, I'm sure. But if you have any tips, other than "don't do that" that might help me to win against my son, all would be appreciated!

Lay two parallel (and really LONG) rows of spidermines. Then, send a kamikaze down the middle of them, running into the other guy's buildings. They'll kill your little suicide trooper, yes, but they'll go nuts on his structures as well .

Back that up with a full scale ground assault while his home troops are weak in numbers from the spider mines.

i prefer to "turtle" in with Terrans, max bunkers & tanks can truly create a fortress. Lots of missile turrets will protect your airspace, but cant stop a carrier invasion. =P So dont turtle 2 long, just enough to build up enough battlecruisers ~_^

The way my Dad always beat me was by as quickly as possible controlling most of the resources. Especially in WarCraft II. You can't make a huge army of me or anything else when you don't have any resources. Upgrade as quickly as you can possibly afford to. And type a message that requires a lot of typing back before launching a big attack, lol!

Cool strategy, Xayd! Gonna try that. Probably won't wein the war but a battle or two is what I'm shooting for!

what race do u use. as i have read ur son uses zerg

so if ur zerg vs zerg: this is the build u should go for against him:
8 drones
1 overlord
1 drone
gas extractor
1 drone
cancel extractor
hatchery
spawn
extractor
keep pumping drones until u have 15, then another overlord
send 3 drones to extractor
uprade speed of lings
evolution chamber
make some lings while doing this
upgrade melee attack 1 for lings
make lots of lings but then make lair
spire
so u'll have lings, muties, and ur ready to go. it works 99% of time for me. The build order may help u but how u use it really determines who will win. ANyone can learn a build order. Practice makes perfect in most things, espcially in the world of starcraft. Trust me i'm a 3 year veteran.

if ur terran against zerg:
get marines and medics, if he has lings then get bats
get tanks, but m&m is most effective w/ stim packs and distance

if ur toss:
zealots w/ speed are damn powerful and storm.
