What video card are you using?
Which driver version are you running?
Within HalfLife which Video Mode are you using?
Software, OpenGL, or Direct3D

I'm confused, how can a motherboard chipset interfere with how a game functions?

Anyways, answer MadMax's question. Video card?

I think FURY_490 is using onboard video on an Intel 810 chipset motherboard with a Celron processor.

Nosed around http://developer.intel.com/design/so...atform/810.htm but didn't see anything that addressed the problem.

You may be s.o.l.
