Counter-Strike Dedicated Server Question
I was wondering if anyone knows if it matters if i use the retail verison of Counter-Strike to run a dedicated server or D/L it off the net?

Just as long as it's the latest version... it doesn't matter. If the retail version isn't the latest, you'll need to upgrade it to the latest.

Either works, the new HL 1.1.0.8 came out today as did CS1.3 so you'll need both of those. Try to get Admin_mod because it adds a lot of functionality to the server and helps when dealing with jerks... you can gag them, kill them, or all kinds of other humiliating things (like exit them out to windows) instead of the ole plain kick & ban. Dicks & Jerks need to be messed with before you finally give them the boot. Admin_mod also can protect other's from using your name on the server... check it out. www.admin-mod.org if i'm not mistaken.

SINND3R,
If im using the retail version, 1.3 would put my server up to date. Isnt 1.1.0.8 for the Half-Life version of Conter-Strike? What did you mean i need both?

Sorry, if you have retail version, just update CS... if it was the mod version, you'd have to update HL also. Sorry about the confusion
