Cannot Start Game After Install
I recently had a system crash and installed 2 new hard drives. I then reinstalled a game I had been running for years (Robert E. Lee Civil War General by Sierra). I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times, but still can't get it to run. After a (successful?) install, I try to launch the game as I always have, and nothing happens. It just goes back to normal windows desktop.
I type ctrl-alt-del, and see that the program is running, but no result. Also, if I try to "End Task" in ctrl-alt-del, the system locks up and I have to manually power down and restart the system. I'm running W98SE with a Pentium II-233 MHz. (Again, nothing different from before.) Does anyone have any ideas? Any help would be appreciated. |

Hi Tom Jensen,
Very often when this happens to me with certain games, I try different ways of starting the game. Sometimes this gets the game running. Try the shortcut on the desktop. Then try starting from the Start Menu. Try starting by letting the CD run (assuming you can start the game this way and it just doesn't go straight into the installation process). Another thing to try is to create another Shortcut to the desktop from the game .EXE file and try that. Don't ask me why it works. But sometimes it does. Worth a try. |
