Is there anyone who could tell me how to burn VCDs? I have a Creative 8-4-32 with Nero Burning Rom. If you could please take me step by step. Thankyou.

Can someone explain exactly what a VCD is? What I mean is how is it different from other cds you burn?

Hey Dad, Im pretty sure a VCD is like a regular cd but the file is in a special format that allows some DVD players to play them. It works the same way as a wave file for a cd player.

Yep. VCD is normal CD with video on it. The video has to be in MPEG-1 format with 352x288 pixels.

but sometimes you can confuise people if you don't explain the format system. You guys had me putting raw mpeg-1 files onto cds when I started out. WHat you have to do is have nero make you a video cd from any video on your computer that is in mpeg-1 format then nero will convert it to VCD .dat format and burn it to the cd correctly. Then you just slip it into your vcd compatible dvd player.

Cool Thanks. To convert the mpeg1 into a VCD do you have to use the Nero Burning Rom wizard the same way as you would to burn a mp3 to a wav file?

Nero should have an option for it.
When you want to burn a CD, it will be normally a Data-CD or Audio-CD. This time select "Video-CD". It's been some time since I've had the test version of nero, but there was a left bar with different CD formats. There choose Video-CD. RJ |

I've tried that before but when I burn it it said the file was burntonto the CD but when I click the CD under My Computer the file doesn't show up only the needed files show up. When I click to see how much space was taken up on the cd the amount of the file was on there. I also made sure that see hidden files was checked. Why cant I see it?

Why can't you see what ?
The MPEG file ? You can't see it because there is no MPEG file. The MPEG stream is storaged differently than a normal MPEG stream. Just run your DVD Player Software and try watching the VCD as if it were a DVD. If it works, then you've done it the correct way. RJ |

You don't need a DVD player, just a plain CD-ROM drive (because the VCD is a CD, not DVD, so it can be read by any CD-ROM-drive) and a DVD player software (such as PowerDVD or WinDVD).
