Any hassles purchasing registered video games? ( read used)

Bought a second copy of a game I already had for a friend who wanted it. Are there any hassles setting it up on a computer that it wasn't originally registered to? Has all cd's w/registration code but no original receipt.

Second copy?
If you bought a used game that is no longer "registered" you should have no problem.
If you've got a ripped copy the publisher will make confetti out of you.

Nope. It's a legit retail copy that I'd found at a used book store for a few bucks. He'll enjoy having his own now. Thanks pam.

You know what's funny? When I bought Half-Life 2 when it first came out, I had to return it and get another because I was told the key had already been used when I tried to install it.

I remember that.
I'm not sure if Vivendi messed up ( initial publisher ) or it was another attack by hackers or something went wrong with Steam but duplicate keys were all over the web.
