Star Wars Galaxies

Is Star Wars Galaxies worth my time? Do you see it continuing on for many more years, or is it way past its prime?

I've been trying to browse their forums on the official site, but they're so awful I've gotten nowhere.

Looks like I'm answering my own question. I'm testing out the 14 day free trial right now and it's pretty terrible. Just thought I'd post to let anyone know who might have wondered.

Thanks for the heads-up, tomster2300! I was curious about it myself.

Galaxies lost its popularity awhile ago. And even when it first came out, it wasn't that hot.

It's unfortunate because it could have been so great too. I didn't think you could screw up Star Wars this much. It's just awful.

From what I could gather from the forums, the majority of the folks left back in 2005 when they completely overhauled the game. The funny thing I read was that they released an expansion pack two weeks before the overhaul, which made the expansion pack partially worthless because of the class reductions. Enough people complained that they eventually offered a refund. Now that is bad.

It's run by Sony Online Entertainment. No wonder.

Alright, I feel like I'm becoming a Star Wars junkie . Just found this link posted deep within a thread on BioWare's forum.

http://www.lucasarts.com/company/job...b20070509.html

It looks like they want to hire someone to help with Galaxies. Possible sign of change on the horizon?

Two new Star Wars games are going to be announced at Celebration IV, and there's still hope that BioWare's upcoming MMO will be Star Wars themed as well.

What do you think the new games will be?

That would be really cool. Just think, an MMO set in the Kotor time-period with Wow-Like mechanics. Or perhaps even a new hybrid system that built on Kotor and Wow's interface. Drool....

I played SW: Galaxies when it first came out, and I have to admit, I was pretty lost, especially for someone who had never played an MMO before. I've heard that they really put a lot of effort into streamlining since then, and that you can even start out as a Jedi. I wonder if this is true. Either way, it might be worth a go, although I'm not sure if the graphics have aged very well. Most of the screens look OK.

From what I have read, (being a recovering SW addict) TFU isn't going to me an RPG game like KOTOR, I believe it is going to be similar to the Jedi Knight series. It's still way early in the game but here is they info they have released as of now. Summary
