One handed games??
Are there any games out there that are fun that can be played one-handed?
A very good friend of mine has lost the use of his left hand -- hopefully temporarily -- and we're trying to figure out some games for him to play. Up until now the only games he has liked are first-person shooters and I don't know of any you can play with just a mouse. Any and all suggestions and ideas are welcome ![]() TR |

Some FPS games can utilize a joystick, so that could be an option.

If he gets a gamer mouse perhaps he could map everything to the mouse if he wanted to. I'm sure strategy games would be able to do this as well as a number of fps's.

Turn based games are still fun (and 1 hand friendly). one that comes to mind is Panzer General 2 (or 1 and 3 as well) but mainly PG2 because the mod community literally made several hundred custom campaigns to keep a game going.
I can't think of any FPS games or RTS games as keyboard shortcuts are premium. Or perhaps he should get voice recognition software and assign popular keys to bold vocals? |

The Heroes of Might and Magic games only require mouse input... has he got access to the internet?? There's plenty of Flash games etc.

Yes he has Internet access, but is fairly limited on time, if that matters, for online games. When he gets to play it is usually 15 - 20 minutes to a half hour half hour if he is lucky.
Any good flash game recommendations? |

Games like Titan's Quest can be played strictly with the mouse. All of the items and features are available by clicking menus or buttons... I would assume that many action RPGs are similar in function. (Such as the Dungeon Siege series.)

I don't know anything about one-handed games, but I recently saw this article about a gamer who can only use one thumb.

Yes, I would recomend flight simulator, with a good joystick (programable buttons), should work well.

I must have been picking up your brainwaves!
-- I was thinking of a sim, too, but a train sim called Trainz. I'll also mention plane sims. What's a good racing sim? I have an older one called Power Slide which is a ball, but I don't think it's available...

Sid Meier's Pirates can be played from start to finish using just one hand on the numpad.

Realistically, any strategy game that can be paused can be played one-handed... so aside from the Heroes of Might and Magic games I mentioned, I've just finished playing Tropico. In that game, just by clicking one button or by pressing the - key, you can pause the game to allow you to carry out different tasks.
