Thumbs down Halo 2 for Vista...

OK guys just a reminder.
Unless (until?) there's a hack this game does not run on XP.
So if you don't have an Xbox and you don't have Vista you can't run the game .

Well I'm running Vista which is working great. It has been 100% stable and all of my games work perfectly. I'll probably end up getting Halo 2 PC since I never got it for my Xbox.

Are you planning on subscribing to Windows Live ?
There is no cost for the Silver membership but the Gold is $50 a year.

I don't want to subscribe to windows live. I'm not going to buy Halo 2 if there is a fee to play online.

The silver (free) membership allows normal PC to PC multiplayer. The gold membership allows crossplatform playing.

From the link :

Members of Xbox LIVE automatically receive the functionality of Games for Windows — LIVE, using the same gamertag and friends list at no additional cost. For a single, unified service, the pricing of the LIVE services across both Xbox and Games for Windows is identical

Interesting....I wonder if this is a possibility. Think it'll come out sometime soon?

Right now there's so many old-school titles from 2002 onward that I need to catch up on, it'll probably be at least another 1-2 years before I seriously consider an upgrade to Vista.

Back in the day though my brother and I picked up Halo 2 for Xbox the day it was released. Strangely enough we both lost interest in it around the time we started playing as the arbiter. Go figure. Now however i'd love to give it a go on my PC. It needs to be hacked for XP first though.
