dx10 takeover

how long do u think itll be until every game is only dx10 and cant be used on a dx 9 video card?

A long long time. Game makers will want backward compatibility, otherwise they will be slicing their own throat.

I feel Microsoft is already doing a little bit of that by making certain games Vista Only. They are missing out on a large base of users by making games that only work with their latest OS...

I'm wondering about that.
Gamespot has reviewed Halo2 for Vista, they say :

I only play "single player" and they make it sound not-so-good... it doesn't matter to me much, though, has I still have no intentions of building a Vista box for myself. I'm still wondering about that external graphics card for a laptop: I might give it a try if I can get my laptop to play DX 10 games at a reasonable rate.
