COD2 sound problems...still
Hey folks.
I posted this one a while back, but to no avail. I am hoping I can solve this problem, because while it persists, the 'immersive' feel of COD2 is completely lacking. Nearly all AI weapon sounds are non-existent. I don't hear gunfire, only the sound of yelling and explosions. I should be deafened when a guy opens up with a 50 cal right next to my ear, but I hear nothing except distant impact sounds once the shots reach their destinations. This goes for enemies and allies alike. This is a single player only issue. Thoughts? Oh, and it is the most recent version...and has been uninstalled to try and fix the issue. Neither have worked. Any help would be appreciated. Justin

Does it only happen in COD2? I've seen (or rather, heard) similar things in BF2 before. Usually a restart of the game fixes it though.
Have you tried re-installing the sound drivers? Also, what is the sound set on in the game options? ie, is there a software/hardware option?

To TwoRails...XP MCE.
To blue...No matter how many times the game gets restarted, the issue persists. The sound options are either Miles Fast 2D Positional Audio, which is basically simulated surround sound and is the default, or you can choose a certain level of EAX. I am using/ have used Miles 2D, and it worked perfectly in the beginning. I only have a 2.1 speaker set plugged into the front channel on my onboard mobo sound, so hardware acceleration has always been out of the question. I can't think of any particular event that would have caused the sound files to deteriorate like that though. The sound drivers haven't been updated on the website (AC97) since before the installation of the game. This is the only application that I own that has any sound problems as well. |

Yeah I think that is my next step. I thought I did that the 1st time, but I can't really remember now. I'll keep you posted.

u might want to reinstall your sound drivers too, for some reason cod2 likes to make them take a vacation every now and then.
