Two Random PC Game Questions
Hi guys,
Just two random PC questions that came up as I go over the list of older games to catch up on: 1. Painkiller: Is it possible to reduce and/or turn off completely the blood effects via the options menu in this game? 2. Call of Duty 2: When playing online, is there a way to disable player chat messages though the console? |

1. Painkiller : If it's not in the settings then no. What you can do is select limit Viewing Distance but I don't advise it unless your video card is having a rough time of it.
2. COD 2 : Scroll down to Multi-player and follow the instructions for disabling chat : http://www.tweakguides.com/COD2_6.html

Thx Pam.
1. Unfortunately I don't have the game in my hands yet. Perhaps if someone still has the game lying around their HDD they could check for me. 2. I don't seem to see any Tweaks in the command console to disable chat. I checked the advanced tweaks pgs as well. I know the command is out there somewhere though. And....continuing in the vein of my random PC Game questions..... 3. Titan Quest - I heard a lot of great things about this diablo-esque title. Yet, many of my online buddies seem to bemoan its crashes and inexplicable slowdown's (even on very powerful gaming rigs). Have the subsequent patches made this game stable and playable? 4. C&C Renegade: Does anyone still play this anymore? I was thinking about getting this game for our LAN. Does it provide bots for offline play?

If you do get Painkiller, be sure to install the latest game patch. An unpatched version of the game tends to crash with XP SP2 more often than not.
Yes, you can turn off the blood effects somewhere in the settings.

Here is the game manual : http://www.replacementdocs.com/download.php?view.1937
I don't remember any settings that would allow you to turn off blood (but then I only played through the demo and that was a while ago.) nor did I find any in the manual. You'll have to download it for yourself since it's too big for an attachment. |

Hm, very interesting. I'm inclined to take Force Flow's word for it, but as I type these words i'm scrolling through pages 10-11 of the manual (btw, thx for the link! a very handy site, that), and there doesn't seem to be any mention of disabling blood effects, or turning them down. Let me see if I can fire off a quick email to the devs of this game to confim.
