Angry Fire HL2 Episode 1 WRONG CD KEY!!!

Ok I brought Half life 2 episode 1 and got it home. Put it in and tried to install it. Typed in the cd key that was on the preference card and i get a message that says invalid cd key. After trying for an hour i went back to the store where i brought the game and told them. They put it in there pc, i logged into steam on their computer and the cd key stilli didn't work. They WILL NOT exchange my game for a new one with a new cd key. So now i can't play it. They said contact Steam, and thats its their fault. I AM NOT HAPPY. Actually i am down right fuming at this. How pathetic that the cd key doesn't work. I e-mailed steam and they didn't get back to me. Typical. So now i have a game that i simply can't play.

I take it the site's instructions for dealing with the "invalid cd key" error failed?
http://support.steampowered.com/cgi-...hp?p_faqid=276

I didn't see anything specifically about this on the forum : http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/

You should, however, have gotten at least a "canned" response by now if your email went through.

My guess is that someone made off with a number of key codes to use on cracked games and that Valve invalidated the lot.
Sorry you got caught in it but Valve does issue new key codes when that happens.
You're delayed but that's all it is.

Thumbs down

I'm sorry to tell you this but Steam is BY FAR the WORST company on the face of the earth. When Steam dies it will be best friends with Saddam in hell. Now that I'm done ranting I will let you know that unfortunately Steam will not help you. You can post int he forums all you want, you can plead to your god of choice, but the bottom line is that Steam just doesn't care. As you have found out there is no phone number. You want to know why? THEY DON"T CARE. They won the industry right now, buying up every game and streaming ti accross Steam. You are insignifigant to them. I hate to say it, but Steam is a terrible company. I remember the good old days of "WON" online gaming of Counter Striek Source. You installed your patches every once and a while and you could game all you wanted without big brother Steam. Now Steam makes stupid updates that don't fix anything and could give a rat's a** about it's customers. I got banned from ALL Source engine games becuase I was using "Radlinker" a GPU Overclocking utilitty. I tried to explain it to them, but all of thier IT is down right stupid. They didn't understand Radlinker nor understood my problem. They told me to buy another copy of the game, which i had to do becuase Steam owns the world. Bottom line, Steam owns you and everyone else that belongs to them. I'm sorry about your problem but If you really weant to play i'd suggest going out and buying another copy.

DISCLAIMER: I'm sure this post is riddled with typos and such but I just HATE Steam so bad that I can't even think when I post with them. RAWR... Now off to play some CS:S
