I have the old windows version on INDY Car Racing on CD. I just built a new machine, with Windows ME. During installation, the sofware does a check to see if your machine can run the game. During the CD-ROM Data Transfer Test, I get an error. The error is a follows:
Program Error Interger Divide by 0 This happens about 17% of the way through the Transfer rate test. I have a Hitachi DVD-ROM GD - 2500. Any ides what the problem may be? Is it just that the software is too old and isn't compatibale? System Specs in case it is relavant. By the way, I have a Gigabyte GA-7DX mobo with a AMD 1.4 GHz chip and 256mb RAM. Also a GeForce mx400 64mb video card. There is a Western Digital 40 Gig, 7200 rpm HD.

Hi Penguin,
I would go to the publishers website and check for any issues and work-a-rounds related to ME. It may be something quite simple. There really shouldn't be a problem running it in ME. HTH |

Well I had this problem in windows 98 also. I just downloaded a driver for my CD-Rom. Not sure if it is newer than mine, but may fix a corruted file or setting. Will try this tonight.
Anyway to POT's question. The reason I like ICR is because of the tracks. Plus I have the converter that converts NASCAR tracks to work with the ICR game. Can you do this with the GrandPrix 3 game? Also isn't all the tracks in the GrandPrix3 game road courses? I like the ovals and super speedways. However I am looking for a new driving game and may have to look at the GrandPrix 3. Thanks. |

Try deleting a file called sierra.ini from the system ( and from recycle bin) and then install "without" running the tests.

Wedor,
It won't let me install without doing the test. It automatically runs the tests. |

Why are you installing a CD-Rom driver? Windows has native support for all CD drives and another driver will just cause problems.

That is Sierra's only fix for the problem, are you running this from an autorun CD? try running it from the setup.exe or install.exe on the CD instead. As long as the tests run you are doomed.
