graphics card question
i have a 400mghz computer with 8mb card. can i get a 32 or 64mb card to replace this one? I also have 128mb ram. should i add more ram if i get a new card for smoother gameplay? i really want a new card with tv out especially. i wish i could just buy tv out separatly because don't play games much. thanks for help.

You can add a 64mb card if you have a AGP slot and a 32mb card using an available PCI. I haven't encountered any PCI cards higher than 32 You can get an adapter that will output to a TV from your existing card. Its like $100-$150, you might as well get a better video card. 128mb is the standard but I always say the more RAM the better!

so does it matter that my card now is 2x agp? will i still be able to get a 64 or 32mb card? when you say "a 32mb using available pci" does that mean that i can't connect a 32mb card to agp? only 64mb connect to agp? also, will i be able to get good performance out of a good card even though my processor speed is only 400mghz? thanks for all the help.

If you have an AGP slot, you should be able to put any AGP card in that you want - unless the motherboard can't supply the power. This is only an issue on the older P-2 boards.
If you want TV and all the toys, an ATI All in Wonder would be a good choice. |
