Unhappy SimCity 4 on Vista?

Hello. Well I am trying to play SimCity 4 Original (not Rush Hour or Deluxe) on the family computer which by far outstrips my own in terms of both processor speed and memory. I decided to load SimCity 4 onto this system because my own simply doesn't have the resources to run it. I'm having a few problems though. I'm running it with the update patch available from the website but I'm having issues. I keep seeing minor glitches everywhere I never saw on my own system (which is running XP by the way) such as text overlapping in the Tax Control boxes and when I choose to either Save and Exit to Region or Save and Quit, the game saves but nothing else happens; it stays on the same screen, I cannot pan around or click anything and I can hear the music that should be playing in Region View. So my question is, does anyone know of some sort of update or patch that will allow me to play this game without any problems on Vista?

The game ran fine on XP both with the update and without. I downloaded the game as a torrent, exrtracted the .daa file for each disk and burnt the files to CD. I used a keygen to get passed the Key registration, and I am running the game with a crack.
