Bioshock PC Demo... No AA?
I just downloaded the Bioshock PC demo through Steam and have only sampled the gameplay for now. The game is visually stunning with all the settings at max except for one obvious issue. There doesn't seem to be any anti-aliasing at all. There are no options in the menu so I went to the Nvidia control panel and supposedly forced AA but there is still obviously no AA at all. Why make such a beautiful game and force users to look at jagged edges? Am I missing something? Does the full game support AA?

Not only is nVidia recommending beta drivers for that demo there's also a beta patch just for that demo ( DAMMIT has the same set of problems as well along with beta drivers and patches.).
Let's hope the two get it worked out before the game's released because it's not the game's problem.

Is the lack of AA, only for Nvidia cards or for ATI too? IIRC sometime ago, Oblivion wouldn't do HDR+AA on NV, but did so for ATI.
I haven't finished downloading the demo (1.8 GB!!) but I hope it runs atleast half decently on my aging 7800GT rig. |

Hmmm... Well it's funny that there is an "Nvidia, The way it's meant to be played" logo when the game starts.
![]() The game runs perfect otherwise so I guess I"ll just wait till they get that sorted out. I'm not using beta drivers. |

I had that card for the longest, It's ugly but has a great personality.
I'm running the game on omega drivers since catalyst renders opengl useless for some reason. |

Just finished the demo on my new rig and it ran very well. I got a little slowdown overall, but nothing anywhere close to unplayable. I'm thinking it is just the 8600 GT not being powerful enough to run everything maxed out at 1280 x 1024 super smoothly.
It runs well with your card Hi Ho? I was also running it on the latest, non-beta drivers and was wondering why the game told me I didn't have the right ones. Do you think I'd see a performance increase with the beta ones? EDIT: Here's something to think about when looking at benchmarks. According to this site I should be getting a fps in the teens, if that, with my 8600 GT (16 to be exact, and that's with an OC'd 8600 GT). Mine's not OC'd, and unless 16 fps is fairly smooth then I was getting a whole lot more. Just something to think about. http://www.amdzone.com/modules.php?o...tid=315&page=1 They were using an AMD X2 (though which one is not listed), so that could have contributed to the lower fps.
