Hl 3?
I'm playing HL2 again and "boy-howdy" is it a good game. It makes me wonder when HL3 will be coming out...
Anybody know? TR

Anything prodcued by Valve never come sout on time. I love Valves software but I hate steam, which I make evident wherever I go =]. Anywho, I've played both HL2 and Episode 1 and loved both of them. I can't wait for EP:2 =]

No idea if and when they're going to run with a "HL3". For now, it looks like they're going to produce a bunch of smaller episodic games since the lost coast and episode one really caught on.

Based on the time difference between HL1 and HL2, a true HL3 might be another 7 years or so. Annoying? yes, but you can't deny they do something spectacular when they DO release a new game....

Yeah, I don't see a HL3. Valve has already said (I think) they want to do the periodic episodic releases versus waiting 7 years for one huge release.

Or it could be a well kept secret... They'll have to come out with something, eventually, even if it's just to use newer technology. There's quite a difference between newer games and 7 year old games.

October was the last release date I heard for HL2: Episode 2 also. As for how many episodes they're going to do, the last I heard was probably 3 episodes for HL2. Now whether that means HL3 would follow after HL2:E3, who knows? Valve will probably change their minds again by the time that happens anyway.

Episode "Tomster2300 is going to reinstall HL2 on his new rig and play it because of this thread" ought to be coming out shortly if I'm not mistaken.

That reminds me of a side note -
http://www.blackmesasource.com/ HL1 re-done in the HL2 engine. It's not finished yet, so I just keep checking back every now and again...

Yeah...the upgraded the physics, water, and the flashlight. Otherwise textures and the low-res geometry stayed...

I can't wait for the Orange Box for xbox 360. Its HL2, Eps 1 & 2, Portal, and Team Fortress all in one box. Now thats great value!
Edit: Blame Bioshock for no HL3 http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/28/bi...valve-offices/

I enjoyed every each Half-Life series game, they are wonderful! Also, looking forward to the Orange Box, and along with the Team Fortress 2 as well! I had been waiting the TF2 since late 2000, and this project apparently has been cancelled twice (if memory serves Jan 15 2001 should be the launch date) and that is not so fun! I remembered me and my best friend kept talking about the game.
Thank goodness the TF2 is back later this time, and with the HL2 engine along as well. And surely, it looks like Incredibles animation. ![]() I enjoyed HL deathmatch because when I got killed or bombed, I can directly respawn and continue hunting. Unlike Counterstrike, when I got killed, I have to wait for the next round for my turn. Still, all of the mods are nice to play, and playing with friends are surely fun as well. |
