PC bioshock bug solutions?

I hope this is in the right forum. but anyways. btw, before i begin, this is on a new build using vista home basic 64 bit, specs in the sig.

I recently installed bioshock, and i have a problem i haven't been able to solve. There is no real time audio in the game. the menu and movie sound works, but no in-game stuff. And i just now installed a new audio driver to no avail. R1.75 realtek hd audio codec driver.

However, running the game in XP SP2 compatibility mode fixes the sound for some reason. But the movement controls often stick while in this mode. so i'll press forward/backwards/strafe and he'll keep moving in one direction. it makes fighting hard, and movement annoying/awkward. I have no idea why any of this happens

also, and this may not be a bug at all, the frame rate gets choppy sometimes. I just installed the latest driver for my card, too. 1.63.44 beta or something. the one ur supposed to use with bioshock. I have a friend with the exact same graphics card who runs the game perfectly. jealous... But this could just be me thinking too much of my machine.

The game is amazing so far, but difficult to enjoy with these things bugging me in the background (or rather, right in my face. hard not to notice). right now i choose between no sound or loss of movement control, and both those are obviously very important.

I know there must be others who are having these same problems. But even if you aren't, do you know any possible solutions to these problems?

If you haven't done so already check the game site for patches.
