The Orange Box and TF2 Beta

I just purchased the Orange box. For those of you that don't know it is HL2, HL2 EP1, HL2 EP2, Portal, and Team Fortress 2. If you have the first two you can gift them to a friend. The main reason I pre purchased is that the TF2 beta opens today.

Pre Purchase now you get a 5 dollar discount and access to the beta.

Yep I pre-ordered right when it was available and am going to give my 2nd copies of HL2EP1 and HL2 to friends.

I can't wait. I woke up this morning and checked my Steam account to see if it was ready to play before I went to work. I thought it would be ready 12:01 West coast time, but I guess it will be released end of day west coat time instead.

Either way I can't wait. I'll be torching you later

Yes, you can buy it separately.

You can buy EP2 separately on October 10th - I think. Right now it's only offered as a bundle.

Well it's 9:30 pm here on the east coast and no sign of the TF2 beta like Valve promised the forums are getting slammed on www.steampowered.com.

People actually took the day off work and school to play this all day today.

The comments right now on http://www.teamfortress2fort.com/blo...ease-date.aspx
are hysterical.

What really interests me is portal but from what i know is that you can't just buy portal. It gets so crazy later in the game if you looked at portals game vids.

TF2 is awesome, as it's cartoony graphics set it apart from all the BF1942 clones, seeing as there are so many... I really rate it, only played it a little

The cartoony graphics, balanced classes, and simplistic game play really make this a favorite game for me. It is just fun to play. I dont feel overly competitive when I play as I do with some more realistic games. This game is just fun and funny at the same time. You can play it for 20 min or you can play it for a couple hours. It really is just a great game.

I love this game so far. But I think they might have to adjust some strengths and weaknesses of some characters.

Hands down the best character in my opinion is the Spy.

Talking

The Graphics in this game are simplistically cartoony yet awsome. The game by its very nature promotes team play so you dont have alot of people running off and doing there own thing. I havent yet been on a server were everyone is a medic, or a heavy. All classes are played and most people will flesh out the team.

This truley is just a fun game. It hasnt been ruined yet with admin mods, cheating, ect. The fact that the cheats dont exist let others enjoy playing and no abusive admin presence.

It truly the best multi player experience that I have had in my time of online gaming.

Yeah, it is fun... they removed a lot of the older TF stuff (medics infecting with plague, pyros with rocket launchers), which I feel has made it more balanced but slightly less fun. I reckon the medic is actually a stronger character than the spy, and the scout is actually worthwhile going now

I find the scout hard to play. I imagine it is because I don't know how to play the class, and that there are not enough people that know how to properly support a scout.

From what I have seen VALVe has done an awesome job promoting team play in a fun and balanced arena.

What is really interesting is the Dev Comentary. I watched it and found there use of psychology very intriguing.
