Joining a game on xbox live

Hi,

Just got connected to xbox live yesterday to play Halo 3. Great game but only one problem. No matter how hard I try I can't find an option that will give me a list of possible games to join. All I get is hosting my own games and waiting for people to join. I've tried every combination of options but still can't "search for games".

I'm probably missing something obvious so apologies in adavnce.

Go to matchmaking lobby and pick your gametype then click start match making.

Done that but I tend to be hosting games rather than looking at a list of games and then picking one to join.

That's not how halo does multiplayer. You initiate matchaking with settings and you get conected based on the criteria of the settings. You can custom game but it is not eligible for matchmaking, just to friends and/or recent players.

Yeah, you don't choose from a list of games. You choose the type of game you want to play, hit start matchmaking, and it hooks you up with other players of the same skill level that want to playthe same type of game. Then it randomly chooses a map and gametype (slayer, capture the flag, oddball, bomb, etc)
