Oblivion questions

I just started playing Oblivion and so far I am out of the prison and have delivered to the amulet. I am looking now for the illegitimate child Martin. Of course the castle was on fire and there were these nasty human/devil like creatures just inside guarding the castle...how do I get past them or kill them?

Anyways... I noticed that I have only three choices when I want to go back in time. I can go back to jail cell in the very beginning or I can go back to the last time I saved (F5) or I can go back one previous save. The guide book says I can go back right before I get out of the sewers so that I can change my character without having to start from the very beginning. The problem is, I see only 3 choices as to where I go back into time. Where is this selection of more times in which to choose from??

I keep getting killed by most everyone who comes down a path....especially by angry women with bows and arrows. I swear one of them resembled Hillary. Anyways, should I change my character to a warrior type resembling Conan the Barbarian so that I have a fighting chance against these people? Right now I am a magician type character. Casting spells seems to do nothing against enemies.

Is there a way to outrun these people?...one even followed me into a tavern and killed me inside or do you just have to turn around and face them?

Is it worse to travel off trail overall or is it better to follow a road?

Also, how do you get a lock with multiple pins to open? Whats the trick? Does Auto Unlock ever work on these?

Thanks!

That forum has ALOT of helpful stuff. It seemed like I played Oblivion 24/7 when I first got it a couple of months ago, and I still love the game. But it really takes alot of time to "see" the whole game. I would love to start playing it again, but I dont have the time.

I agree.
Got stuck (and you're not the only one)?
Head there but check out the full site as well : http://www.elderscrolls.com/home/home.php

As a suggestion, what's in your inventory just now ?
