Nvidia nTune bug?

Ok is this possible or not. I got a geforce 7800GTX 512mb and its running at stock 550 mhz. A lot of people said they got about 610 max with this card overclocked. I tried it using ntune and got it up to 643 max. Didn't try going any more cause i was getting a bit scared. Can this just be ntune not changing the speeds correctly and just displaying the wrong speed? I ran 3dmark06 for quite some time without and error, crashes or artifacts.
