im stuck on installing oblivion can some one please help

hello i just got a lap top and i dont no any thing about it so i bought the oblivion game it install fine then i click the game and a error appears oblivion has stopped working windows is searching for the problem i after a couple of seconds it stops and says oblivion has stoped working a problem caused the program to stop working correctly windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available so i close the program and it goes but nothing else happens so i uninstall it and install it again it says the same thing i read the requirments as far as i can see i have every thing i need but i dont no about the sound card or video card im really stuck does anyone no wat i should do and if u read this and u dont no can u reply any way so i no people are reading this please please please

sorry but i dont no any thing about my laptop but it looks like i have every thing exept sound cards and video cards because i havent bought any i dont no if the cards are all ready inserted in to the laptop and i dont no what event view is either i no my computer is better than windows xp tho if that help it is a vista intel pentium dual-core inside what ever that means it has 2 mb memory as well i think thats it any way and thats all i no

Belarc will dump the whole thing in Notepad where and you can paste them here where we all can see them, we can't tell what's going on if we don't know what they are.

Meanwhile pull out your manual and read the specs/drivers and check the dates ( If it reads 1/07 you have updates waiting.).

These are the basic requirements for Oblivion :

System requirements 512MB System RAM 2.0 GHz processor 128MB video card 8x DVD-ROM drive 4.6 GB Hard disk space[2]

You meet them with a dual processor so go over to the web site and get the necessary patches.

Remember, Google is your friend ( well for this it is).

current display mode: 32 bit 60hz

if there is anything else you need to know about it lemme know.
and please help, id like to play the game and i dont want to have to wait a century to be able to play.

downloaded the patch, nothing changed. should i paste a link to a print screen photo of how the window looks. i mean it isnt all that clarifying, there is no problem code, like stuck person mentioned it says exactly what he said, nothing more nothing less. which sucks, it dosnt give anything to really look up.

From your posts it doesn't sound as if you installed the patch after the download.

i started the shivering isle patch then went straight throught to installing it then half way through it stoped and said that a old file was not found but a other file that has the same name was no update done since file does not match

of course, i installed it. when i downloaded a window instantly came up and asked to install, and i went ahead and let it automatically install. the game noticed that it was being updated and said this could take several miuntes, but it was only a matter of seconds, it said the patch correctly installed and everything was fine. but upon double clicking on the game, pressing play. the windows gave the message it had before. no difference. no change.

you know the funny thing is im researching this problem all over the web and i see the same case here and there, with absolutly no answers to the threads people have left. either nobody knows what to do with this problem, they are ignoring it, or something. im about to go ahead and contact somebody at the actualy company that creates this game, because you would think the world wide web and something as great as google would have some matches to the answer... but its obvious no one knows what the problem is.

Now, on to the problem. A patch is something that is released after a game that is meant to fix some problems that people have run into. Throughout the lifetime of a game, you can have numerous patches released. Keep up to date on these patches so that it will run as smoothly as possible.

This page (http://www.elderscrolls.com/download...atchnotes6.htm) shows a list of the tings fixed in the patch you are trying to install. It also includes a few things that can cause problems with Oblivion. Read through it and make sure that these problems don't describe your situation.
