AUDIYODA! - Radeon AIW capture revisited

OK,
The only way I can capture really decent off my tv tuner is to use the mp2, mpeg2 or whatever ati uses, I use good quality not high,
anyway, I recorded a show sat (an hour) it ended up being 2.3 gigs. yikes.
So I tried to use tmpgenc to convert it to mpeg, it did 14 hours later, I got a 300+ meg files(not bad) but about halfway through, the sound is off by a second or two.
So I tried flask, it did it in 1.5 hours, but some parts there is "noise" that is like "gross", and a few seconds later it's back to ok. ANyway, I still have not figured a way to get these mp2 files "shrunk" down.
I know it's a lot to ask, but in video I am a newbie.
Although I did order some more ram today, I have 256 in the video pc, which will soon be up to 1 gig!
Anyway, any help would be great.
