Gaming pc or PS3

Hey guys,

well i was planning on getting a new rig for gaming but im having second thoughts now.

for a decent gaming rig to play cod4 or crysis you looking at either a system like a c2d,or a quad, lots of memory to run vista and dx10,powerfull gfx card so a 8800GTS or GT.

it costs alot and still i hear people have trouble playing crysis maxed on high spec systems.

sooooooo...i was thinking about getting a Ps3 and hooking it up to my lcd monitor

i want to play the new GTA when it comes out on Ps3 because i doubt it will come out on pc for at least another year after the ps3 release.

do you guys think a Ps3 would be the better option?
i could still buy a ps3 mouse and keyboard to play First person shooter games just like on the pc

and i wouldnt have to worry about a game not working because on a Ps3 it would

If gaming is your only real concern, then Vista is not the way to go right now. There are just too many issues with the OS, its drivers, and its speed.

I don't think there are many issues with drivers with Vista. The speed may be the only real concern with new build. A good gaming system will cost a bit more than a PS3 system so if all the games you want to play have PS3 versions it will be a lot more simple. But, a good gaming system will let you have pretty fast computer for other things also and it's upgradeable.

Hell, if you can afford both, get both.
I own a PS3, and I have built a high-end gaming PC.
PS3 has it's advantage however, IMO.

i cant unfurtunatly,i do have around £600 which is about £1200 if im wrong correct me,but the only problems with pcs is they get outdated rather quick and games require more power which then you end up forking out more money in the long run.

where as with a Ps3,all the games for it are made for the same hardware so your good for a few years and you dont have to worry about a game not working on it unlike you do with a pc.

i heard the ps3s graphics procesor is only the equivilent to a Nvidia 7800 card so obviusly this is not going to be as good as a 8800GT right

When I go looking for computer games in stores, I'm finding more and more ps3, xbox, and Wi games vice computer. Not saying thats the future but computer game sections keep getting smaller and smaller.

All I need to say is this: You can't swap out parts in a console.

1) My gaming rig in my sig plays COD 4 extremely well.
2) Xbox live / PS3 online isn't as nearly as fun as online computer gaming. I've played my fair share of both, and nothing has EVER beaten a good game of Battlefield 1 / 2 with 64 players.
3) Nothing beats playing a sports game on a console, especially with your friends.

Your choice, but if all you want to do is play with your friends a console is the better choice.

I agree 100% except I will add that if you want to do any online gaming go computer or 360 but the PS3 online support sucks.

And yes it pisses me off that I can play 64 people on battlefield on computer but only 18 in COD4 on the 360. But sitting 4 feet away from a 42" Plasma tends to make up for it.

i looked into this as well early last year. basically the PS3 comes assembled with no conflicts or issues to fix. it's limited on games, FPS and sports, neither of which I'm personally into. all you need is a TV and a plug. a PC plays a greater variety of games, but no matter how great your rig is in a year or so you have to start upgrading again. then other little issues start creeping up. I got a new video card, now I have to upgrade the PSU. the video card has DVI-I and the LCD monitor i have is DVI-D. now you need adapters...

bottom line, the PC has the ability to upgrade and more diversified gaming. the PS3 is an out of the box and plug it in.

-No pad can beat keyboard/mouse combination.
-No patches, mods, or add-ons for console titles.
-You DON'T have to keep upgrading your system. A gaming rig build to-day will handle any games coming in the next few years. You may have to start lowering settings in a couple of years, but the thrill of the game is still there.

Nuke, I'll agree with one and three but your second point doesn't hold up with today's consoles. The online capabilities for the major consoles allow people to make mods and patches.
