I am looking for a third person action/adventure game to play. I played all of the Max Payne,Htman series along with all of the Tomb Raider series.
Any suggestions? |

Despite some people giving it poor reviews, I had a ton of fun with Assassin's Creed. It should be out for PC before too long. You'll find it like a very much expanded Hitman, way back in time. Very cool and open game.

the bad reviews have one constant thing, the missions seem repetitive. looks very cool tho.

Thief 3, if you haven't played it, has both 1st person and 3rd person perspective. Good luck finding it, though. Not sure, but I think Gothic 3 is 3rd person, and of course, you have the Neverwinter Nights games.

I have been playing The Witcher and have found that to be enjoyable. The quests are alot better that the normal "go kill this, come back" variety.

You could also try Guild wars, and Hellgate london. They are third person but its all from behind. Not really any cameral manipulation. I dont know about hellgate but with GW you really need people to play with to get through some of the missions.

I just finished Assassin's Creed. The storyline is very good even though the game is a little repetitive.

Amen. Online play is a lot of fun, but I wish people would congratulate one another on good kills or nice shots again. Remember when that was commonplace? And if you DID congratulate somebody, you got a thank you. People these days...

Tell ya what though, cunning strategy and wisdom beats out lightning fast reflexes most of the time. ![]() Maybe some of them don't have any social skills because they spend so much of their life playing games on the internet instead of relating to real people? Agreed.
There is the whole issue of camping too, when it comes to strategy. I like to snipe when I can (one of my character classes is a "Combat Sniper", with a Dragunov as a primary and an M4 as a secondary, just in case), and that usually involves sticking to one spot for a while. Otherwise, you may as well ditch the sniper rifle and keep an automatic for the run n gun tactics. I get all these young guys blaring over voice chat that I'm a "tent pitching n00b" and need to go to another server. Of course I get no congratulations on the 6 headshots in a row, nor a thank you for congratulating the guy who found me and blew me up. This is borderline hijacking the thread, but in the gaming community, this kind of thing is far too prevalent. Future online gamers beware. |

Since this thread has gone from third person gaming to online fps's, I recommend the Battlefield series, especially Battlefield 2.
People used to openly curse and complain about me when I was sniping them. I always took that both as a compliment and as a job well done. . I congratulated them when they finally found me, and I especially found it fun when entire groups of people stopped fighting just to come hunt me down. That usually makes you feel pretty special in a devious sort of way. A true online sniper moves from place to place when they're spotted, but should be more than welcome to stay in one place if possible. If someone complains about snipers camping then they need to re-evaluate the role of a sniper. They're definitely not meant to run-and-gun like everyone else. The old Desert Combat mod for Battlefield 1942 did a great job with sniping by introducing the .50 caliber rifle. Since there were only two or so in the Village level, and they didn't respawn until the user dropped it, it took actual skill to keep it and be a successful sniper. Also the one shot kill factor helped holding onto it extremely enjoyable.

I played Army of Two at a friend's house and absolutely hated it. I'm so used to being able to hide against walls and ACTUALLY HIT THINGS WHEN I SHOOT THEM FROM TWO FEET AWAY that Army of Two was absolutely no fun. Seriously, unloading a clip into a guy's chest and not having them flinch was pretty irritating. Then after having this occur over and over and over again, I was treated to a let-me-randomly-shoot-this-bullet-at-this-guy-when-he's-too far-away-for-me-to-hit-him-and-have-it-knock-him-down. When this happened I promptly chunked my controller.
Maybe it was just me though because IGN gave it a fairly decent review (7.x if I remember correctly). I enjoyed Gears of War because it was beautiful (and still is), but I never finished it. When it gets really cheap I plan on picking it up along with Mass Effect. I've been really into buying cheap used games recently from Gamestop - you can't beat NCAA Football 2007 for $10 even if it is a year old... Last edited by tomster2300; 03-17-2008 at 04:38 PM. |

That is why I like CoD4 in hardcore mode. If someone survives 4 shots anywhere on their body, they are cheating. I played it on regular mode not long ago, and couldn't stand it. Everyone was taking 6, 7, 8, and 9 shots, with 2 to the head and still walking away...usually killing me after I've turned away, thinking they are very dead.

Got jipped on one game they said it was new and it was in fact new but you be reasonable with the seller and you can both usually come out of it happy. I just re-read what was being said about online society. This is why I only really play with a bunch of guys my age in my clan. We still have sportsmanship. Most the young gamers these days think they are hip and cool because they have a "gamer card" and they are a "gamer" that they have no class. Sportsmanship has taken a back seat to over competitive kids with no parental supervision. The game box is a babysitter. There is no parent on teh side line telling the kid to congratulate teh other team on a game well played. I remember when being a "gamer" ment you were a total nerd and played D&D

Personally i think Bioshock is one of the best games, if not the best game i've played in many years. I've played COD4, witcher, crysis, world in conflict, hellgate london, supreme commander and most of the rest but bioshock is just fantastic. Crysis is also an excellent game but it hurts my computer!
The storyline is excellent, the gameplay and game physics are realistic and there's always new and interesting content. I'd recommend it to anyone (probs over 14 or 15 year olds :P). The Witcher's also an excellent game but once you've completed it it's over, bit disappointing there tbh. If you're going to play COD4 single player veteran mode is definitely the best, makes the game completely different. Hellgate London (Diablo 3) imo gets a bit repetitive after hitting about level 20, although i haven't completed it OR played it online so i can't say for sure. Just my two cents, all good games! |

I finally found a used copy of The Godfather for the 360, and have been enjoying it over the last couple of days. It's just like GTA 3, and is just as much fun. The graphics aren't great, and you can tell it once was a xbox by the sparsity of objects in rooms and such, but it's fun overall.
Who doesn't enjoy slamming a shopkeeper's head into a cash register when they won't pay their protection money? |
