Logitech gamepads...any thoughts?
I am looking at the Logitech Rumblepad and see that they have wired and wireless versions.
I'd love to get the wireless, but don't want to have connectivity problems. I will pretty much always be sitting close to the computer, but does it have to be line of sight to work or do is there likely to be interference from other 2.4 Ghz things in the area (like a cordless phone)? |

Since, as far as I know, anyone who uses a gamepad is facing the monitor and not the computer case I don't think you need to worry about line of sight.
The cell phone however could be interesting but what do you mean by "in the area". If you park it on top of the computer then yeah you might have a problem. If it's on the other side of the room, or even in a desk draw, then that's unlikely.

If you're gonna be sitting close to the PC all the time, what's the point of wireless? No real advantages and just more saturation of the 2.4 GHz frequency (AFAIK it can cause interference with other devices), and you'll be forever compelled to buy batteries.

I went with the XBOX 360/PC gamepad just because I liked/was used to the XBOX layout. I'd just as quickly buy Logitech. I went wired because I'll be right there and why buy/use batteries if you aren't across the room?

Acually, if they want an Xbox360/PC controller...they could go with the Logitech Chillstream.
It has the Xbox Layout and 3 fans and settings to keep your hands cool while gaming.... ![]() The Rumblpad has the PlayStation Layout. |
