Anyone use Hamachi? (Is this appropriate?)
It speaks for itself. I just got to use it recently and so far it is pretty swell. Just kind of crap, since none of my friends play what I play.
Right now I am playing Ut3 and just want to play w/ someone; bots are good practice, but get kind of regressive. Also, if it is not appropriate then feel free to remove Thanks |

Basically it is like a LAN emulator, but work via the great interweb. Instead of the systems being restricted to just the network connected to a regular 6" by 6" hub, the Interweb is the Hub.
You play via the LAN option still, no different. I am not 100% sure of the connection method, but it is something like a tunnel. One thing though, the chat feature is encrypted w/ AES 256 bit, which is kind of funny. Read more about it here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamachi It comes w/ 2 versions, one free and one cost. Cost just basically let you host up to 64, while free is like 16 or 24. Hopefully that will explain it. Last edited by Ahura; 01-30-2008 at 05:24 PM. |

I have actually seen it and after reading up on it realized that it is a remote managment client. It is not just for gaming. You can set up VPN's with it. I don't use it but I know some people that use log me in for remote management.

Although a word of warning DO NOT download AOE3VPN.exe to play, its is actually an information gathering virus. Although I havent got a problem with Hamachi - nice interface, has built in chat and is stable. It doesnt appear in Network Connections even though your not using it which is kind of annoying but you can always disable it. |
