Half Life 2: Orange Box, Does it work on XP Pro x64

I got Doom3 and Half Life 2 on PC when they first came out a while ago (2004), so I'm sure they wouldn't work on my PC. Doom 3 installed fine, and worked even better after the 3.1 patch was installed. But what's up with Half Life 2? I heard it was x64 NATIVE, or something. So I just popped the disc in sure I'll at least have to apply a patch or something, and BOOM, told me to contact system admin and that this software wasn't made for my system. haha. kinda funny. So I did some research, and I saw that the x64 NATIVE one was released in late 2005, not 2004 when I got mine.

SOOO (like Bill Cosby), Is the Orange Box compatitble with the 64-bit environment? I'm ready to buy it online (Amazon), but don't wanna waste $50 on something that's not gonna work.

Also, I saw this program, 'Stream'? Will that get my old version working?

I don't know whether or not they're included in their own version of the Orange Box edition.
Since you're going to have to register on Steam, it's Valve's gamer site on line, to play HL2 anyway (Valve's games now "phone home".) while you're there ask support and get the definitive answer; if necessary you can buy the 64 bit versions as a download from the site.

I have vista x64. if you purchase and DL the games through steam you will be golden. I know some people like discs but its time to cut the cord people.
