should I be ok with this set up?
I have a computer with a
Pent III 450 mhz 64mb ram 3DFX Voodoo 3 GFX card Windows 98 And this is the requirements for the Civilization III coming out: Windows 95/98/ME/2000; Pentium 300 MHz; 32 RAM; 100 megs of hard drive space (+50 for swapfile); 4X CD-ROM; DirectX 7 compatible video card (must be able to display 1024x768x16bit); DirectX 7 compatible sound card Should I be in the clear, it should run smoothly right and not slow. |

well according to the general requirements yes it will be playable but only to an extent, the voodoo 3 is a large limitation due to very little bandwitdth and memory on the card, the 450mhz is a little anemic, as well the 64 megs of ram, my immediate upgrade would be slap some more ram in, its cheaper then dirt 128 megs will only cost you around 15-20 bucks...

You'll be able to play it fine.
If you were to upgrade your computer, you can get a NICE Duron system w/ GeForce 2 for VERY cheap. TO make that game play better... ram will help a lot, as will the video card. I"m not too sure if Civilization is very graphic intensive as I've never played it but you can upgrade the video card for cheap also. THe small gap between the 300mhz and 450mhz you have is widened considering its a PIII (only slightly!) Or, you could just not spend any money except to buy the game, and play it! |
