Q4 and Ping
Not sure if I should post this here or under networking..........but here goes....when playing Q4 online, I am noticing my ping is unusually high as compared to other players...like 144 vs 40 for all other players....what does this mean and can I do anything about it?
Thank you |

Ping is your connection speed to the server. The higher your ping, the slower the response time to the server. Who is your ISP?
Another thing may be because you are playing on a server that is far away from your location. For example, you may be in the west coast, but you're connecting to a east coast server which explains why your ping is so high.

Thanks for the info - I have roadrunner as an isp - cable....also, the servers I am on are in the UK.....and I am in the US........that may explain it. I was wondering if I needed to get a special "gaming" modem or somethings else..

The players with 40ping are probably in UK. Ping is closely related to distance to server.
