PS3 Cleaning
I've read the documents that came with my 40 gig PS3, checked the web site but neither answered this question, does the dvd drive require cleaning? I know that for my rigs, I pop my laser lens cleaner in once in a while to keep them clean but I can't find anything concerning the PS3. Any idea's, thanks.

I've never heard of that before for ps3? Although it would make sense to clean it every once in awhile.
Maybe you should try giving the sony support team an email and see what they say.

Here's a quote from support "We also do not recommend the use of any type of lens cleaner. Doing so may actually cause more problems for your PLAYSTATION(R)3 system. Instead, we only recommend that you clean your PlayStation(R), PlayStation(R)2, and PLAYSTATION(R)3 format software discs/DVD discs/Blu-ray(TM)
discs using lint-free "CD wipes" found at your local software stores. When cleaning the disc, we recommend starting at the inside circle, and wiping out to the edge in a straight line. We do not recommend wiping in a circle motion, as it may cause scratches on the disc." |

haha. They are probably right. They way they created the lense on the slim ps2 is so that it's powerful enough.
Also, the PS3 lense uses a WAY different wave length than the other playstations. Its uses a blue lasor. That lasor can handle anything. Just wait until they get a green or purple laser. Our discs will be titanium or something. |

Both the playstation 1 and playstation 2 said not to use the cleaning disks on them so I assume it would be the same for the PS3. Your more likely going to damage the lens using them. I would assume not to use them on xbox or 360 for the same reasons.
