If you just want to do that for games, try the in game key mapping. Most (if not all the time) the game has a "customize buttons" option which allows the actions to be double, triple, quadruple mapped to different keys, mice actions, or joystick actions. As for doing that in Windows, I am not sure if you would want "m" to be a right mouse click. There is probably a program which would allow you to do that. Search www.shareware.com, www.download.com, and places like that. They usually have odd programs like that.

Windows already has "mouse keys" - its part of the accessibility options I believe. Also, the Menu key on a 104 key keyboard is the same as a right mouse click.

I have a terribly old version of Windows 98, so I did not know that even existed. I guess you learn something new everyday. I have not done much programming involving remapping the keys, but I do not think such a program would be all that terribly hard to write.

glc "mousekeys" in accessability options seems to me to allow you to control the pointer from the numeric key pad. But your idea of making button 4 the same as hitting the "m" key is exactly what I was after.
Most games pick up the middle mouse button and allow you to allocate it, but I haven't found any that let you use button 4 and 5. It's not really as if I'm coordinated enough to use all the buttons, but i thought it should be able to be done.

The five button meeces just allow you to bind other keystrokes to the fourth and fifth buttons, so you can make those whatever keyboard keys you want them to be instead.

If you're trying to replace using the mouse, my suggestion is keep working with they mouse, don't forsake it completely. You can't do the things with just a keyboard that you can do with mouse/keyboard together.

When you get comfortable using both together, those extra mouse buttons are invaluable. I could never play with less than five extra mouse options besides the left/right buttons anymore . In fact I'd be much better off if someone would go ahead and make a mouse with 10 buttons...

I'm trying to bind key strokes to the forth and fifth buttons, but it just wont do it. Even when I try to bind the "pre optioned" keys, like copy, or F2 etc it dosn't work in applications. I might try downolading the microsoft optiplus drivers, but I don't expect them to be any different to what I'm using.

DefineF lets you bind stuff to F keys. Not sure if it does mouse button 4 and 5, though. It is worth a shot. I have been searching for a better one, but have not found many others. Hope this helps a little. I know someone must have written a program similar to this.

Ok, gotcha. You have to install the Intellimouse software and have it running for the fourth and fifth buttons to work.

Once you've got it installed, you can go into the preferences in mouse properties and set whatever keystrokes you like to the mouse buttons. Then just make those keystrokes your binds in the game.

For instance I have F11 and F12 bound to my mouse, and set the binds I want to use for the side buttons in the various games I play to F11 and F12.

A good site for in-depth gaming hardware using keyboards, trackballs, joysticks and the like is the PantherXL Forum or Messageboard.
Check out pantherxl.com (I think). Sorry I'm not at my computer or I'd give you the exact address.
