Question Reading DVDs?

I just wanted to know if anyone knew if there is a way to have your regular CD drive or CD burner read a DVD? Does anyone know of software that can do this? I wanted to try and see if I could back the DVD up on to my hard drive with Nero.

Nope, this isn't possible because CD drives can't align the laser that fine to read a DVD.
There are combo drives, though, that combine CD burner and DVD drive (Ricoh has two of them), with them it's possible.

. . .otherwise we wouldn't need the extra DVD drive, eh ?
