Steam game troubles.

I'm haveing a weird issue where all my steam games won't keep the graphics resolution.
Always resets to 1280x768 resolution. I'm ok with any other game. Just not Steam games.
I've sent a support request but havn't got any answers in about four days.

I've looked over their section on setting command lines in the "launch options" but not even setting it to allow steam to launch the game at default settings or higher resolutions changes anything.
Also removed all security software. Didn't help.

Any one out there herd of this kind of thing with Steam before? Didn't see anything on the official forums.
Thanks

The only time I've heard of something like this, with Vista, it was happening to laptops and the screen resolution had to be changed in the nVidia control panel.

Did this just start in the last week or so ?

I seem to have this issue only with L4D and only after a restart (possibly after exiting steam too...I haven't checked) on XP. No other games appear to be affected.

Does the resolution reset every time you exit a game and go back into it again, or only after you exit steam or reboot the PC?
